New Haven Farms’ family and friends came together to raise over $16,000 in the past week for the fifth season of the Farm-Based Wellness Program. The Great Give and Rock to Rock Earth Day Ride take place close to one another every spring.
Here’s what happened:
94 riders for the Rock-to-Rock Earth Day Ride, the largest team, raised $6,000+ for free or affordable food to neighbors in need, access and education to help patients become producers for a healthier New Haven.
116 donations for The Great Give, largest known participation improvement from Top 25 finishers for 2016, raised $10,000+ for the Farm-Based Wellness Program. For New Haven Farms, these numbers are 146% increase in participation and 171% increase in total dollars from 2015.
Most importantly, the passionate, committed, inspiring community of supporters — the New Haven Farms family and friends — worked together to achieve great results that will directly improve the lives of individuals and their families too close to poverty and the diet-related chronic diseases associated with it.
Year 5 of the Farm-Based Wellness Program launches in a few weeks! Come visit us at Ferry Street Farm on Saturdays from 9am-noon (613 Ferry Street) for Open Farm Workdays.
