Ruth joined New Haven Farms as one of the first participants of our Farm-Based Wellness Program (FBWP). Since graduating from our FBWP she has served as a dedicated volunteer and Community Health Ambassador (CHA). She is passionate about serving as a mentor and motivating people from diverse backgrounds to live a healthier lifestyle. As Ruth puts it, “there’s a reason I always come back every season. It’s an amazing, wonderful program… it becomes part of your lifestyle. I’ve made some great friends through Gather New Haven. I always look forward to meeting amazing people through our program.”

Ruth was born in Puerto Rico and raised in Brooklyn, New York. She has worked with other community organizations including Casa Otoñal and the Agency on Aging of South Central Connecticut and has volunteered with many more. Through New Haven Farms she discovered her love for gardening and has also become an Incubator Gardener our joint Incubator Garden program.
