Julie joined our staff in summer 2018. A native of Southeast Appalachia, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Social Entrepreneurship and Religion from Carson-Newman College, where she was a Bonner Scholar. Her time in Jefferson City, Tennessee, the home of her alma mater, afforded her a myriad of experiences working intimately with community members in various community-wide efforts, evoking her passion for community development work.
Julie received a Master of Arts in Religion with a concentration in Ethics at Yale University, School of Divinity in May 2019. A champion of a feminist, virtue ethics approach, her primary research focused on social ethical theory and the meaningful application of the that theory for the individual in praxis.
Outside of work and academia, Julie enjoys Power Vinyasa Yoga, creating visual art in all its forms, and baking. She spends a significant portion of her time reading and writing and is always up for some stimulating discussion over a cup of firstname.lastname@example.org 203-562-6655
