Farm and Incubator Garden Fill Need

In the second year of production, Ferry Street Farm reveals more than fruits and vegetables growing through New Haven Farms.  Thanks to community gardeners and partnerships with New Haven Land Trust, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Foundation, Livable City Initiative, City of New Haven, and Wholesome Wave, the new farm site offers multiple opportunities for affordable fresh food access and growing a diverse urban farm community.

“I tell my board members all the time, that the America you see on the news is not what is going on in these community gardens. This is a different way of experiencing this country. It is really inspirational and energizing,” Karen Voci, president of the Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Foundation,  said of the cooperation and bonds developed among the participants.

Note: The Incubator Garden is a partnership with the New Haven Land Trust through Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Foundation’s Healthy Food Fund.  English Street Community Garden, adjacent to Ferry Street Farm, and Grand Acres Community Garden are managed by the New Haven Land Trust.
