Farm Sites

Gather New Haven has a total of seven farm sites throughout the New Haven community. Together our farms total 65,340 square feet of land and produce roughly 16,500 pounds of organically grown vegetables each year!

Phoenix Press Farm (15 James St), our largest farm site, is located at the foot of a wind turbine and sits right on the edge of the Quinnipiac River. This farm is also home to our Tuesday night Farm-Based Wellness program.

Ferry Street Farm and English Street Community Garden sit side by side at 613 Ferry St or 220 English St. A lot is happening at this location. Ferry Street Farm has a 1000 sq. ft., heated greenhouse and is also the site of our Farm Stand, Saturdays from 9am-3pm and many other events.

English Street Community Garden, plays host to the Incubator Garden Program. Through this program, former Farm-Based Wellness program participants cultivate their own individual garden plots and share both knowledge and produce with friends, families, and neighbors. New this year, English Street also serves as the location for our Saturday Farm-Based Wellness Programming from 10am-12pm – open to all!

Located at 170 Ward St, The Hill Farm is our newest farm site. Breaking ground on this farm in 2017 has led to an exciting partnership with Career High School students and teachers as well as with community members to establish a new Farm-Based Wellness program site in the Hill neighborhood, enabling our wellness program to meet here on Thursday evenings.

Ferry & Wolcott, Liberty Street, Market & James, and Shelter & Clay are our smaller but equally cherished farm sites.

Ferry & Wolcott Street Farm (248 Ferry Street) is a small corner garden on Ferry Street.

Liberty Street Farm (66 Liberty Street) is looked after primarily by Mr. James, aka “Pops” aka “Bo Peep”, a neighbor of the garden and a pillar of our community. This farm is about ⅙of an acre.

Market & James Street Farm (285 James Street) is looked after  primarily by Ms. Wanda a neighbor of the garden who specializes in heritage varieties and wrestling with our lemon balm.  This farm is about ⅙ of an acre.

Shelter & Clay Street Farm (42 Shelter Street) This site is home to cucumbers, summer squash, and collard greens. This farm is about ⅙ of an acre.

In addition to our farms, we also share two collaborative farm sites. 34 Park St is the location of Connecticut Mental Health Center Court Yard Garden. We also partner with Southern Connecticut State University’s Student Garden.
