Community Farms

Gather New Haven has operated as many as four urban farm sites across New Haven, including farms on city-owned land and at the former Phoenix Press property near the base of the wind turbine. Last year, Gather New Haven partnered with the Liberated Land Cooperative to activate the Ferry Street and Hill farm sites, supporting a community-supported agriculture (CSA) program and providing space for farm incubator projects. At their peak, these farms encompassed more than 30,000 square feet of cultivated land and produced approximately 8,000 pounds of organically grown vegetables annually. Because urban farming is highly resource-intensive, Gather is currently evaluating how best to sustain and support urban agriculture in New Haven moving forward.

 

Ferry Street Farm (613 Ferry St) sits side by side with the English Street Community Garden located at 220 English St. 

The Hill Farm  (170 Ward St) was established in 2017 through a dynamic partnership with students and teachers from Career High School, along with neighborhood residents and community partners. At the time it started as a home for Gather’s Farm-Based Wellness program in the Hill neighborhood.
